What Inbox Agent is

Inbox Agent is an Alexa skill that summarizes your Gmail inbox and reads selected email details aloud. It uses Google Account Linking so each user connects their own Gmail account.

Data we access

Gmail (read-only) via Google’s gmail.readonly scope: message metadata and content needed to build short spoken summaries and to look up emails you ask about.
Basic profile via Google openid / email / profile: email address and Google subject id, to identify your linked account.
Alexa account linking tokens issued by our auth service, so the skill knows which Gmail mailbox belongs to which Alexa user.

How we use data

Periodically fetch recent/unread mail, generate a brief summary (using a third-party LLM API), and store that summary for Alexa to speak.
Respond to Alexa requests such as summarizing mail or reading an email matching your query.
We do not sell personal data or use Gmail content for advertising.

Storage & retention

Google refresh tokens are stored encrypted in our AWS DynamoDB table (application-level encryption plus DynamoDB encryption at rest).
Cached email metadata and pending spoken summaries are stored per user and replaced on later ingest runs.
We keep linked-account data while your account remains linked.

Sharing

Processors that may handle data to provide the service: Amazon Web Services (hosting), Amazon Alexa (voice requests), Google (Gmail/OAuth), and our summarization API provider (email text sent only to generate the spoken summary). We do not sell your data.

Unlink & deletion

You can unlink Gmail from the Alexa app (skill settings → Account Linking). You may also revoke Inbox Agent’s access in your Google Account permissions. Unlinking deletes stored Google credentials and associated per-user mail cache from our systems.
